Marrakech desert tour 2 days

Day 1:Marrakech – High Atlas Foothills – Ouarzazate – Zagora

Departure at 8:30 am by 4×4 from your accommodation in Marrakech, to head through the High Atlas Mountains and pass the famous Tizi-n-Tichka pass which culminates at 2260m.
These mountains offer incredible views of the valleys dotted with Berber villages perched on the sides of the mountains, sometimes barely distinguishable from the mountains themselves.
After the pass, descent to Ouarzazate that we will reach for lunch.

After a tea break that will be offered to you in our agency located in the city center we will resume our journey to Agdez which marks the beginning of the Dra’a valley by taking the road that passes through the pass of Tizi-n-Tinfifite (1660m).

In order to discover this marvelous valley, its numerous villages and gardens and to get an idea of the oasis life, your route will follow the track of the old caravans between mountains and river. After having reached Zagora, you will ride camel  during a one hour ride through the dunes and have the pleasure to admire the sunset. These dunes are less impressive than those located further south and east, but are the closest to Marrakech on such a short trip.

Day 2: Zagora – Ouarzazat – Hight Atlas – Marrakech
The early risers will be able to enjoy the incredible spectacle of the sunrise and its play of shadows and light on the dunes before breakfast. later we will leave the main road that takes to Marrakech to reach the famous Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified village is the most famous in Morocco. It has been used as a set for many Hollywood movies after having been one of the most important strongholds for the caravans taking the salt road: traders used to bring gold, ivory, salt and slaves from sub-Saharan Africa. Your journey will continue along the beautiful new road of the Ounila Valley to the Kasbah of Telouet, former stronghold of the Lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family.

In the afternoon we will join the main road to Marrakech lined with numerous Berber villages along the river or on the mountainside. You will have the opportunity to go down into the valleys to drive along the river, lined with beautiful oleanders and gardens planted with olive trees, walnut trees, pomegranate trees, apple trees, pear trees and quince trees. You will discover that Berber women and children tending to the herds of goats and sheep climb even the steepest slopes in search of fodder and firewood. after your  Marrakech desert trip 2 days will end with our arrival in Marrakech late afternoon.
